THE 24/7 CLUB
Ed Fringe 2018
“This is one of the most compelling shows you will see this year. It is charming, hilarious and beautiful. An absolute must-see.” – Edinburgh Festivals Magazine
Charlie's second one-woman show at the Edinburgh Fringe and first full-length, full-run performance.
Much like her previous show, this was primarily character comedy but this time all historical figures who share her birthday, the 24th July. They all existed in an exclusive speakeasy called the 24/7 Club, hosted by Charlie herself.
Characters included the misunderstood, ’20s hot-mess Zelda Fitzgerald; the incredibly enthusiastic Amelia Earhart; Wonder Woman, or two “wonderful-women” of science Alice Ball and Frances Oldham Kelsey, and Bill the Butcher. Some better known than others and some that should be better known.
This show also discussed Charlie's issues with mental health as it would appear many of her other club members on "cusp of oscillation" had shared similar issues. For a fuller discussion of these themes in the show, please read this article by Charlie about the process of writing and performing the show.
